Immaculate Disciples Press is pleased to announce the publication of Route by Julia Cohen and Mathias Svalina.
Route is a split collaborative chapbook by Julia Cohen and Mathias Svalina containing two inter-related poetry sequences – Black Metal & Ice and Two Sisters. The first follows what an expedition through a desolate polar landscape that has no apparent purpose. The second follows two sisters who are alternately playing and on the run from mysterious scientists intent on experimenting on them. Both sequences in Route address irrational male desire masquerading as scientific pursuit with a language and logic that is at once like a fairy tale and bad dream.
Cover is a silkscreen designed by Joseph Lappie and printed by Caitlin Wheeler.
Available for purchase for $12 - no shipping fees added! If you are in NYC from 3/28-3/30, you can pick it up at the CUNY Grad Center chapbook festival.

Noah Eli Gordon has a thoughtful review of PARENTS in the Spring 2011 issue of Rain Taxi (the print version).
Writing in the Chapbook Corner section, Gordon says, among other things, that "Parents is at its core a kind of darkly comic fairly tale cloaked in a sequence of narrative poems, which reject the clarity of event on expects from a narrative through a consistently shifting of consciousness, and a murky, amorphous articulation of action."
Definitely check it out.
Also, here's a great pic of the chapbook window display at the CUNY Graduate Center, taken during the Chapbook Festival earlier this month. Props to Hitomi Yoshio for the fine pic.

We are teaming up with Flying Guillotine Press to present reading from Sampson Starkweather's The Heart Is Green From So Much Waiting and Steven Karl's (Ir)Rational Animals (published by Flying Guillotine). Both chapbooks will be available for purchase! (As well as a super-limited number of copies of Matt Bollinger's Passion).
The awesome starts on Saturday 6/19 at 3pm at the Four Faced Liar (165 West 4th street; take any number of subways to the W4 Street Station). It's the afternoon--come over, have some beers, listen to some poetry, buy some books, and still you'll have time to get ready for your hot date or dangerous rooftop dance party.
Steven Karl received his MFA from The New School and is the author of a collaborative chapbook, State(s) of Flux, with the artist Joseph Lappie (Peptic Robot Press, 2009) and (Ir)Rational Animals (Flying Guillotine Press) and Saturday(s) (Scantily Clad Press). He frequently writes reviews for Cold Front Magazine, Galatea Resurrects, and Sink Review. He lives in New York City. His blog is http://stevenkarl.blogspot.com.
Sampson Starkweather is the author of four chapbooks, most recently The Heart Is Green From So Much Waiting from Immaculate Disciples Press, and Self Help Poems, forthcoming from Greying Ghost Press. He is an editor of physics and chemistry books, and co-founder of Birds, LLC, an independent poetry press.
